Windows 10 : Checking of the Corrupting of the Start Menu Files

Windows 10: How to fix the Start menu files corruption

Despite the ominous title, this method doesn’t actually involve hurting down the likes of Bear Grylls. Instead, this is a quick-and-dirty fix that may come in handy through a variety of situations, such as when you have non-responsive windows or spurious issues on the Windows desktop – it’s not guaranteed to work, but it’s saved us a bunch of times over the decades we've been tinkering with Windows PCs.

Step 1: Open Task Manager  ( Right-click on the task bar, and selecting Task Manager from the menu or Hold down Ctrl+Shift+Escape)

Step 2 : If a UAC prompt appears, click yes and then click “More details” on the bottom right of the task manager screen.

Step 3: Click  the "Processes" tab and scroll down until  "Windows Explorer" will comes.

Step 4 : Right-click on the process, and select "Restart" from the menu.

Step 1 : Hold down the Windows Key+R to open the Run window.
Step 2 : Type in the following without quote marks: "control /name Microsoft.IndexingOptions".
Step 3 : Click Modify on the bottom left of the Indexing Options window.
Step 4 : Click the "Show all locations" button, then untick all the currently ticked locations and Click OK.
Step 5 : Click Advanced, then click Rebuild in the Troubleshooting section. A message will pop up saying that this may take some time. Click OK.

After Completion of the process Reboot the system

This is the one of the way to fix the Start menu index file corruption and rebuilding it again.

Use the following Tip.

Step 1: Go to System Properties either type sysdm.cpl in search field or select through Start Menu

Step 2: Select Advanced System Settings Tab 

Step 3: Select Settings in Performance Options 

Step 4: Un-check the box "Animate windows when Minimizing and Maximizing.

Select Apply Button.

That's all. Now system will not animate in the start menu.

In start menu we can add the folders which we are required. 
By default File explorer and Settings folders are enabled.
If we need other folders then we can add that also by enabling from settings.

The option is available for the following folders:

File Explorer
Settings
Documents
Downloads
Music
Pictures
Videos
HomeGroup
Network
Personal folder

To enable/disable folders by selection of the following method

Step 1: Select Start menu




Step 2: Select Settings, the following screen will display



Step 3: Select Personalization



Step 4: Select Start, then following screenshot will display in screen

Step 5: Choose which folders appear on start option which is in the last option,  the following screenshot will display in screen.



Step 6: We can either on or off the folders which we are required in the start menu
